You know that feeling when you close a book and almost want to let out an audible sigh? That is how I felt when I finished The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett. This slow paced, character driven novel kept me engaged from page one and gave me all the feelings. Eudora Honeysett proves that a story about a crotchety 85 year old woman can simultaneously make me laugh and warm my heart in a totally unique way.
Things I loved about this book:
- The sweet, well developed characters. I loved this cast so much and would really enjoy seeing them on screen! Film adaptation, please?!
- The dry humor. Eudora is quick witted and strong willed.
- The amount of layers. This wasn’t a thriller by any means, but I still found myself saying WHAT?! so often with the dual timeline of this book. Eudora was so much more than a grumpy old lady, and I loved discovering all about her.
One thing I didn’t love about this book:
This is a mild spoiler, so proceed with caution but…
…
….
…..
the cat dies. And that hurts my heart.
This was a beautiful story that got 4.5/5 stars from me!
