MY TOP 10 BOOKS OF 2020

Better late than never, right?

I read 119 books in 2020, and I was able to come up with my top 10. And while I cannot definitively rank it from 1-10, I can tell you what made my top 3 for sure – the rest are a guess!

Disclaimer: just because I loved a book does not mean that you will, and I am always happy to personalize a recommendation for you if you tell me the things that you like!

Note: each photo of the book is a link to purchase it via Amazon. If you would like to purchase via Bookshop.org to support your favorite indie, click here to access the full list!

MY TOP 3

My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell

Genre: Adult contemporary fiction
Page count: 373
Be sure to read my review of this book and see the trigger warnings before purchasing. Proceed with caution.

Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Genre: Adult contemporary fiction
Page count: 341
A very “hope for humanity” type book.

Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais

It broke my heart and put it back together

BOOKS 7-10

The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett by Annie Lyons

Genre: Adult contemporary fiction
Page Count: 372
A wonderful debut for fans of A Man Called Ove. I love a lovable but crotchety main character, and Eudora was just that!

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Genre: Young adult sci fi/dystopian
Page Count: 435
Just give it a try, it’s not scary like it sounds.

All About Us by Tom Ellen

Genre: Adult romance
Page Count: 400
This was another debut I loved – think ghost of Christmas past, but modern day!

Dear Justyce by Nic Stone

Genre: Young adult contemporary
Page Count: 288
I read this book in one sitting. It’s that good.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

Genre: Historical fiction
Page Count: 435
I don’t read historical fiction often, but when I do, it’s by Kristin Hannah, and I LOVE IT.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

Genre: Adult fantasy
Page Count: 393
If you try any audiobook off this list, make it this one.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Genre: Adult fantasy
Page Count: 442
Do not be intimidated by the label of fantasy. This book is effortlessly beautiful
